Morning,
Guys…
So,
yesterday, Father Tony had his last day at our church. He’d only been there a couple years before
the bishop transferred him. He seemed to
be hitting his stride, and now, he’s on his way out.
This isn’t
the first time we’ve lost a priest to transfer, it seems to be a revolving door
job like any other job…and, that’s where we have a problem and don’t
understand.
Now, I
understand priests retire like everybody else, so a new one has to replace said
priest. I also read
that priests can request a transfer if they don’t think they fit into a parish,
but then, we’re getting into your run of the mill job, not a divine job. I guess, call me naïve, but I’d think when I
priest’s sent to a church, it’s a calling, not just a job done for a bit, then,
the priest moves.
We’ve also
our beef with the bishop assigning parishes.
So, the bishop’s the priest and mon signor boss, and the pope’s over the
Catholic religion on Earth? The bishop
can move priests as he sees fit. That
sounds more like a corporation than a religion, right?
Just
wondering.
Be good to
each other.
