Afternoon,
Guys…
So, we’ve
been watching the Paras and listening to the stories of the competitors. It makes me wonder the ratio of the born to
made crips. Not that it matters, just
curious, because we hear stories of people becoming crip after this accident or
that accident. Now, you know my theory
about made crips. Not all are self-brought
upon, and those are the stories, I really feel for and am happy that they
overcame, and if they place, I’m right there cheering them on, but, then there’s
the ones that were riding their ATVs and had an accident. Again, there are the honest accidents, but
more often than not you read about the person partying, drunk or not, definitely
not paying attention…and, damn, they’re an instant amputee. Sounds cold, but I see it from the crip that
has always had to struggle, not led the charmed life and fell from grace.
Of course,
the vets’re a totally different demo. Like
I’ve said before, they’ve got ALL my respect.
They put their asses on the line when they DIDN’T HAVE TO, got hurt for
their troubles, and rebounded to inspire, not only as a vet, but as a Paralympian. God has HUGE plans for these individuals,
seriously.
I even heard
a story about an Olympian that got hurt and turned into a Para! How cool is that?! I mean, not that he got hurt, but that he’s
continuing his Olympic dreams as a Para!
He gets to experience both sides of the spectrum, not an experience we
all get. Again, my hat’s off!
Just thing I
wondered and considered.
Be good to
each other.
