So, in Church I
told you about my paraplegia, and that I’m a little different from the
textbooks definition. Given that, the $1,000,000
question I’m asked by people that have the balls to go there: Can you have sex?
This is a
loaded question with crips with Spina Bifida.
On one level, I can feel on my junk.
Now, to what level. Can I
maintain hardness, hmmm, sometimes, it depends.
Because of the spotty feeling lower, other parts of my body are erogenous
zones for foreplay. BTW, crips are good with their mouths. Of course, there’s Viagra and the
like also help get wood.
An orgasm
for a crip like me is akin to a female, it’s mental. That’s not to say I don’t have the physical
effects, it just means, I work to achieve said orgasm. Also, if you’re a crip couple, finding
positions that are comfortable and doable (Cowgirl, Missionary, or on the side)
are totally by trial and error, but who said sex’s ever perfect?
The film Murderball, about the Paralympics Rugby
team, touches on their personal lives…including sex. Most of them are made crips, so, at sometime
in their lives, they had the full feeling.
In essence, they had to RELEARN sex.
Sometimes
with Spina Bifida, we have a “reverse” ejaculation, where the semen goes into
the urethra, instead of out the penis. I
guess it’s kind of a crapshoot whether it’s going to happen. The crip’d need to see a urologist to see
where they stand on the ejaculation thing if they feel they’re having issues. I know, we’re guys, we don’t WANT help, but
sometimes we need it. I’m guilty of it
too.
There’s no
harm in just playing around to get it right for you all. Just know, again, peeps, you’re not alone in
this.
Be good to
each other.
