Behind the scenes, in the shadows
I work
Like the stagehand who goes unnoticed
But mine is the most important job
In the dark, in the silence
I always am
Even though that isn’t where I long to
be
An outcast
Misunderstood, I’ve become
Truly unique
Although fear or doubt will never let
the average see that
But with the strength that is me
