A Series of Unfortunate Events-The End.

Afternoon, Fam…

So, we finished binging the last season of A Series of Unfortunate Events, and what a ride.

All the cast was back…except for those Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) offed in the first two seasons.  Even Sunny (Presley Smith), the baby, who was more vocal this time around than in the previous seasons; however, it wasn’t her voice.  That job went to voice actress, Tara Strong, who’s actually 45.  On looking, we saw Presley was 3 or 4 when filming the season, so we thought she should’ve been able to deliver some of her lines, or it would’ve been cute to hear her give it a go, but time’s money, and I guess the powers that be didn’t want to pump the money into that time.  Still, her cuteness stole the show, even overshadowing Harris’ Olaf with her mannerisms or her comments, which other than Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Violet (Malina Weissman), no one can understand her, ala Stewie from Family Guy and Brian.

Again, if you didn’t like Men in Black or the short-lived TV show, Pushing Daisies, you might not like this, because the dark humor and quirkiness’s amped up for the finale to sometimes dizzying levels, which’s its charm in our opinion.

Now, quirky doesn’t mean it’s for all ages.  Although there’s no hardcore cussing or nudity, the themes’re dark…after all the title’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Netflix tends to take their series further than movies in theaters’ll go.  That’s why it’s sad to see their Marvel series get canceled.  In our opinion, balls to the wall’s the way those movies should be, but that’s a different post.  We’re thinking 13+ can take it, and get the in-jokes and whatnot without too much trauma.

Anyway, I saw more CG in this season than the others, and it ain’t the best, but it’s better than Mowgli, which WASN’T a bad film, and it’s better than SyFy CG, just don’t look for Star Wars or Lord of the Rings CG.  It’s quirky in that ‘you know you’re looking at CG, but it’s fun’ kind of way.

The season ties up some loose ends, but leaves others, which’s cool, because it leaves you wanting more…at least, in our opinion, but it’s also maddening since we know it’s the end.

Now, we have to get the books.

Be good to each other.
