So, I don’t
know much about Cystic Fibrosis. I know
it’s the degeneration of the lungs warranting a lung transplant, or else imminent
death. I’ve got asthma. I don’t think I’ve known anyone with the
disease, even my years at the office.
The closest experience I’ve had was with the character, Grace, from Degrassi: The Next Class. By the end of her storyline, she got a
transplant.
I’ve written
about making a difference in lives with this blogging, vlogging medium as
opposed to merely entertaining people, which, don’t get me wrong, has its
merit, but when the medium’s use can truly touch even one person, that’s
priceless.
Where you
going with this, J?
Last night,
popular Youtuber, Claire Wineland, died of Cystic Fibrosis. She was only 21. Last month, she got a double lung transplant,
but she suffered a stroke from a clot, and deteriorated throughout the week.
In life, Ms.
Wineland used her lot in life with Cystic Fibrosis to talk about her life to
mentor others with the disease. Her
YouTube channel has 258K. In death, she’s
still helping people, donating her organs.
Like Olivia
Wise, who famously did a cover of Katy Perry’s “You’re Going to Hear Me Roar”
before she died of brain cancer in ’14, Claire Wineland’s my hero, making her
life an example.
Be good to
each other.
-J-
