So, in
college, I took a film course, it was the only offered at our college. There I learned how to write all types of
scripts and review movies. Our final was
making a short from beginning to end that included making the script, making
storyboards, filming, which meant learning blocking, and editing, based off a
prompt the prof gave us. It was a lot of
work, but a lot of fun.
On thing the
course taught was to look deeper. He
showed us a wine commercial, then, asked us what he was about. Of course, we said wine. He said no, it was about sex. He went back through it practically frame by
frame showing how NOBODY was actually drinking, but in just about every from
there was something sexual whether it be the way the actors and actresses were,
or he even showed us statue with bodies entwined.
Did you know
E.T. is an allegory for the life of
Christ? Check it: He came down, he
taught, he was misunderstood, he died, and he rose. Crazy, huh?
There were others.
J, where you
going with this?
This:
Yeah, it’s a
beer commercial, but the guys never drink.
That’s not the point. The point
is about legacy, about kinship as the son and his friends returns his dad’s
keepsakes and ashes back to his fave place he and his friends used to hang. Deep, huh?
Be good to
each other.
