So, we went
to the Folks’ for Father’s Day and my pop’s 84th. Fam friends, Penny and Ray came through to
celebrate, so we had two dads in the house.
It was cool. I used to work with
Penny when the Folks owned the office.
She was the accountant while I did various positions throughout my
tenure there. They throw a Halloween
party every year that all their friends and neighbors come through for her kickass
soup and rolls…and, monster cookies.
We had a
baby beer and I had a shot of bourbon, straight, which everybody said I was
crazy. Hey, if I’m gonna drink, I’m
gonna taste it all the way. Normally, my
thing’s Kahlua or Baileys straight. We
also had chips and dip or guac for hors d’oeuvres while we talked and Dad
grilled the burgers and brauts.
For dinner,
we had (cheese)burgers and/or brauts, potato salad, spinach, oranges, strawberries,
with walnuts salad, Penny’s baked beans, and the Cake, which’s three layers of yellow cake split by real apricot preserves brought together
with dark chocolate frosting from Dad’s Mom’s recipe. It was all delish!
Of course, Dad
got a gift and cards.
Good times,
good friends.
Be good to
each other.
