So, this was
in my Twitter feed this morning: “People who swear a lot tend to be more
honest, upfront, and loyal with their friends, partners and family.”
I’ve also
heard people who swear are of lesser intelligence, because they don’t have the vocabulary
to articulate themselves without swearing.
OK, early in
the site, Mom called on dropping the F-bomb a lot, telling me I’d be cutting
readers with language. I honestly saw
her point. I know swear without regard
to where or who they’re with, but, if I were a parent, I wouldn’t want my kid
reading someone, who drops the F-bomb every line...even if the message is
SUPPOSED to help. Yeah, it’s used for emphasis,
but still. Still, it’s in my vocab for
better or worse. I try not to use it as
much even though it slips every now and then.
I’ve been getting better I think…especially after trying to give up
cussing for Lent. I wasn’t great, so I’ll
be doing it again next Lent. Even
though, people know what’s on my mind, and what comes out my mouth might
someone, I might be limiting my audience…a reader, who might need to read what
I’ve got to say at that particular moment in their life.
About the
honest thing, people without filters, you know EXACTLY what they think or feel
at any given time…ALMOST without a doubt.
Joey says I’ve got a talent for not telling people things if I REALLY
don’t want them to know WITHOUT breaking.
She also says I’ve got a talent for totally erasing someone in my world
even if they’re right in my face.
Given that,
the above statement’s not necessarily true.
Anyhoo, my
two cents.
Sound off.
Be good to
each other.
