27 Club-Brilliance Gone.

Afteroon, Guys…

So, I’ve been thinking about this since it was reported Avicii, the popular DJ, died yesterday in the Middle East under unknown circumstances.  Now, I didn’t know his music, but it’s said he was brilliant.  He was 28, just a year over joining the 27 Club.

27 Club, named for the group of entertainers that died at 27 for whatever the reason, most notably Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain.  HOWEVER, the 27 Club goes WAY back 1892 with the composer, Alexandre Levy, who’s cause of death is unknown.  The title was just officially coined from 1969-’71 with the previously mentioned, Morrison, Joplin, and Hendrix, who died of drug overdoses within months of each other.

What I’ve found reading and what I know from experiencing these artists is that they were brilliant.  Most were damaged with scars that fueled their brilliance while others were victims of happenstance and their number was punched at 27.  Singers, actors, actresses, composers, and artists from all walks of life from all over the world popularized by the age they checked out.  Some left more material with the thought they had more to say beyond the years they were allotted.  Other’s legacy died with them, sadly.

Again, I know Avicii didn’t make the 27 Club, but he was too young to randomly check out.  It’s been noted that he battled addiction, so, unfortunately this might very well be the case.  People fall off the wagon.  They’re being pretty mum on the investigation for his popularity.  Yes, I know it’s only been a day, but his fans want to know.  Checking out at 28’s not normal.  Either way, it’s another brilliant artist gone too soon.

Be good to each other.
