So, Joey
told you about her defining
writing styles and mannerisms. She has a
lot of little things placed within her words to tell that her words are Joey.
Me, on the
other hand…let’s see…
First, I
found out I HATE writing in chapters, hate it with a bloody passion. I tried it with The Altar Server, and although I love the story concept, I kind of left
it alone after another idea popped into my head that I ran with. I felt too constricted titling a
chapter. That said, I need to dig it
back up to write it scene format.
That’s my
favorite way of write, in scenes, like a movie.
I can go with a sequence until I run out of things to say. I break up my scenes with something like ***
or some little icon that fits the theme of whatever I’m writing.
Being that I
write in scenes, I’m extremely descriptive to the point of painting a movement
like, say, a crouch. I helped Joey with
Julian’s transformation in The Howl
as well as some sequences of Quest.
Like Stephen
King, I like to add lyrics to my stories that drive the narrative like in The Moreau Family Diary, where I use
paraphrasing from the Doors since the basis for the story’s the mystery of Jim
Morrison’s death. Of course, it’s a work
of fiction, and I did change his name to Timothy Peters, but you can tell who I’m
alluding to in the description. I loved
that era in music, so I watch a lot of documentaries on the Doors, Jimi
Hendrix, and Janis Joplin…you know, some of the original members of the 27
Club.
I have
shades of my friends and fam show in my characters. That’s not to say I wish them ill will or
anything; nor, am I say anything about their character. It’s my little ode to them. The same for the color blue showing up periodically…it’s
one of Joey’s favorite colors.
There ya
have it.
Be good to
each other.
