From Mainstreaming to Segregation-Undoing 36 Years of Progress? The First YOU.

Evening, Fam...

So March of last year, I blogged about being the first gen of crips being mainstreamed into public schools in Midland.  I'm proud of holding that little place in Midland history.  Last week, I found we have a "special needs" school in town.  I'm all for different ways of teaching, because everybody learns differently, but since it IS a special needs school with the student body being mostly crips, I wonder if the kids' social skills're getting developed if they're not getting/having to interact with able-bodied students like my gen had to.

Joey and I've seen the trailer for Dwayne Johnson's new movie Fighting with My Family when he tells an aspiring wrestler to "But don't worry about being the next me. Be the first you."

We ADORE that line.  Here's her thoughts.

Be good to each other.
