Morning, Fam…
So,
yesterday at Mom’s
Retirement Reception, there was a suit sitting at our table. I only got his name, because he was brought
up as a big wig with the Children’s Clinic.
Now, the thing is, the dude did EVERYTHING he could NOT to look at Joey
and me. It was the way were dressed, we
were dress appropriate for the occasion.
It could’ve been my shaved side of my head or our tats, which aren’t
hidden, but me thinks it was just we’re crips in general.
The reason I
bring this up is because I WAS NOT the only person to notice this, Joey and
Ashley both noticed.
This isn’t
uncommon for us, we try to engage everybody around us. Some people’ll just do their damnedest to
overlook us. Of course, it used to bug
us. Now, we try just that much harder to
MAKE them see us, which I did yesterday looking dead at him since he was
sitting beside Dad. As soon as Rene, who
was hosting the reception released us, he got up to leave until she called
everybody back for Mom to show her appreciation. Instead of going back to his seat, he sat
against the wall cattycorner behind us to the right. Yes, I had to watch what he did until Mom
started speaking.
People are
so transparent in their insecurities and, dare I say, prejudices.
Be good to
each other.
