Weird Al!

Afternoon, Guys…

So, I was gonna write this up when we got home, but, as you can see it didn’t get done.  SO, here we are!

Last night was really fun.  We got to the Wagner a little after 7, so after we checked our tickets, we went to the souvenir booth, where I bought Joey a shirt with Al’s mug on it.  I offered Ashley.  Sometimes she gets something, sometimes she doesn’t.  She says she’s not used to people offering to get stuff for her.  They had new stuff as well as retro, which was cool.

While we waited, I noticed, like always, there were two other crips there.  Both were elderly, both had someone pushing them.  It was good to see them out.  It was sad we were the only younger ones, though.  Of course, Weird Al’s a niche artist, he ain’t for everybody.  Then, they let us in.

Funny, we were sitting in the same row we sat for Fluffy, BUT more in the middle by the sound booth, AND, we got to sit together this time.  They just moved a couple chairs like any other place would.  Hmmm, it’s funny how different people are.  I would hope that the ushers at Fluffy were just going by the book, but something tells me otherwise.  Anyhoo, that’s their karma.

Opening was Emo Phillips, who was with Al in UHF back in the day.  It’s corny fun, of course.  He railed on everybody, cleanly of course, but, he still railed…including a soon-to-be-married couple.  He’s always had a raspy voice, which’s his schtick, but Joey and wondered about the breathy-ness, he sounded like he was working to breathe, which was a little disconcerting.  We’re gonna watch UHF and pull some Youtube bits to see today.

After intermission, Al came on for a two and half hour set, that was literally all over the place genre-wise.  During his oldies medley, he pulled “Eat It” to the tune of “Layla,” which worked really good.  He also worked “Amish Paradise” in with another tune, but I can’t remember it.  Hopefully, Joey caught in one of the videos she made.  Then, he called it night.

After a little prompting, he came back for an encore, which ended aptly with “The Saga Begins.”  The only thing that didn’t go as Joey wanted was she wanted a chance meeting and for Al to sing “Fat.”  He’ll be back.

Be good to each other.
