Joey did that Dallas trip in the Medicaid taxi at least three times for various appointments until they actually scheduled her. Of course, getting an actual date to stick was another thing altogether...there were, I think 5-6 before Joey made them put it in stone. That was last Thursday, the 17th.
But, before the surgery, they wanted her to 86 almost all her meds and vitamins she'd been literally been surviving on until then. Not that she was addicted, just what Pain Management and her own research on vitamins and supplements to reduce pain had given or what we got for her. Amazon's a WONDERFL thing. Needless to say, the last couple weeks to the 17th was a solid 10+ on the pain scale.

So, after her birthday present (her birthday was the 6th), a FUN weekend in Dallas seeing her favorite band, Stabbing Westward
Chris with Joey
we had a couple days before we had to be back on the 16th for her pre-op tests, which she'd already had a round here. We asked the Dallas people if she could get the workup done here...they said no, we had to be there by noon, or surgery'd have to be rescheduled. Our happy asses were up with providers in tow at 4:30!
We got her there by noon, and where she needed to go, but I was kind of miffed they wouldn't let me go back with her when I saw others going with their person or peoples. I did promise I wouldn't leave through the whole process. She was scared since it was her first surgery...EVER.
After a couple hours, she came out, and dropped the bomb that, instead of having to be there at 8:45 the next morning, she'd be the first up, which meant we'd have to get her there by 5! Then, it was time to check in to our hotel.
Before the last couple weeks, I'd never booked a hotel from start to finish. I did two in weeks. The first was a breeze, because it was just Joey and me and the provider. We just bunked in the same room.
The second, I had to figure sleeping quarters for Joey and me and our two providers, because all I could score was two rooms with kings. This meant the providers'd have to sleep together at least the first night. Thankfully, they were game. I told them they could spread out to have their own rooms Thursday night since I would be spending the night with Joey in her room at the hospital.
Before calling it an early night since we'd have to get up at 3:30 to get Joey to the hospital by 5, we went out for late lunch, early dinner.
Now, when Joey and I travel, we like to eat stuff we can't get in Midland. It doesn't matter it's still in the States. We found an Indonesian place!
I love taking Candid photography. If I could make a living from it, I happily would. I love the spontaneity, the real life-ness of it. I saw this homeless guy feeding the pigeons, and couldn't pass the opportunity.
Then, it was bedtime.
