So, Wednesday,
I talked being
a crip as a whole group instead of by individual cripness after reading so
many blogs where people identified themselves as this or that. Here, we teach from our perspective, but we
also raise questions we wonder about others’ cripnesses.
Anyway, kind
of a long those lines, I read that Beijing’s
boning up on their accessibility for their hosting the ’22 Winters. It’s not the first time I’ve read a hosting
country step up their accessibility game heading into their games.
My folks’ve
done a lot of travelling and they report to us about the level of accessibility
wherever. Now, their idea of accessibility
and our idea of accessibility differ since we live the life, but they’ve got an
idea just from knowing us.
BUT, I
wonder the template countries use when they win their host year. We’ve got the ADA, which those of you, who’ve
followed us know we’ve
got a love/hate relationship with the “one size fits all-ness” of it. Yes, nothing’s perfect. Given that, I’m just curious. There’re infinite combos for cripnesses.

Good question! What would a master template look like? I like your phrase "infinite combos for cripnesses". Very true! I just finished a fact sheet on spinal cord injury and it includes that concept, but not in those words. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks, Cindy, we always wonder about other countries, because of our experience with the ADA. I wonder about other people. We asked our guide when we went to Honduras a couple years ago. He said they rarely come out. Of course, that's his observation, but...
