Scars Run Deep.

So, we started watching the 2nd season of 13 Reasons Why after we got back from the glasses shop to pick up Joey’s new script.  If she doesn’t adjust, we’ll be making another trip back, but that’s another blog.

13 Reasons Why covers the wrongful death/negligence trial of the Hannah Baker’s parents against the school and student body that her parents accuse of setting her up to fall and ultimately commit suicide.

Now, ultimately, we’re responsible for our own ship, so Hannah’s decision to off herself is on her.  The events leading up to her suicide’s on those started the rumors and perpetrated to continue instead of squashing stuff, that’s on, mainly, one student, with the others falling in line from apathy or just not knowing HOW to help, therefore, leaving it to the next “friend” or adult.

After the recap, the cast, out of character, made an announcement to talk and get help if you feel like any of the themes from the 1st or this season pertain to you.

We’re 3 episodes in, and Clay’s really struggling as is every student, who knew Hannah.  Paranoia’s at an all-time high as a settlement was rejected and the trial begins, and no one knows what the other’s going to testify.  To make matters worse, people’re getting into other people’s heads…OH, AND Clay started seeing Hannah.

Instead of tapes, the episodes are broken into pictures.  I think this represents the different views of the witnesses.  We’ll see how it pans out.

Unfortunately, season 2 premiered the day of the killings at Santa Fe.  Mental illness and abuse of any kind’s no joke.  As the investigation continues, I bet these themes come up as things shake out.

Be good to each other.
